Churches To Be Closed in Algeria

We recently received this email at our offices.  Please make this a matter of prayer. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Warm greetings in Jesus' powerful and mighty Name!  The head of the EPA ( The Algerian Protestant Church Association) has received the following order from the High Police commissioner in his town:  "On May 5th, 2011, a decision has been made according to article number 566/11, to close down throughout the country all the Christian worship places, which are not designated for religious purposes.  I, Mr Ben Salem, the high commissioner of the police in the Bejaia area, have informed Mr. Mustapha Krim, the President of the ( EPA ) Algerian Protestant Church...

Bin Laden is Dead... the Aftermath

As you know, President Obama announced last night (Sunday, May 1, 2011) that after ten years of intense effort by U.S. military and intelligence forces Osama bin Laden, the founder and leader of Al Queda, had been killed by U.S. Navy Seals.  While many rejoice at this news, as Christians we must be conscious of the situation this creates for many of our brothers and sisters overseas.  The thought that there might be reprisals in the wake of this event must have occurred to many of you.  Sad to say, this is already the case.  We have already received reports from our ministry partners reporting such reprisals.  This follows other attacks on Christian...

Look What God is Doing in India

Many of our international partners have large, diverse ministries.  In their efforts to reach the unreached these ministries are using eveery means possible to proclaim the Gospel to those who have not heard.  Consider the following ministry report from one of these ministries:  New Life Ministries of India.   Greetings from New Life Ministries in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!   We praise God and thank you for another fruitful year. His grace indeed has been sufficient and we’re grateful that our Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.   Trivandrum Bible College We hit another milestone! Where the Name of Jesus is Not Known

Fulfilling the Great Commission by reaching the unreached is the vision God has given to Soul Winners India. For this to become a reality, they need to train and send out many more pioneer missionaries to bring God's love to all the unreached people groups of South Asia.   Every year they train 60-100 students in their Bible colleges. The goal is that each student would gain the vision to take the Good News to the unreached, receive on-the-job training through ongoing outreach ministry along with quality instruction in the Word of God, and be fully prepared for the hardship and persecution that comes with a life of faith in Jesus.   The...

Neighborhood Burns in Philippines

On November 21 we received the following letter from Danny and Cita Montes, the missionary leaders of Living Rock Ministries in the Philippines: "Dear Brother Romy, "Last Sunday right after our church worship a tragedy has happened. One neighborhood in Calbayog City, a neighborhood called Aguititan, near the of the port of Calbayog, was burned down.  There were 800 families who lived in that neighborhood and all their houses were burned. I have 21 families that were affected and they a members of our church.  Unfortunately they only got few things out, since it was right after our church worship. "Our youth leader Melanier, and his wife Margie, was one of those that was...

Why a ministry to the persecuted church?

For every unreached people group in the world today, there are different obstacles and challenges to reaching them with the Gospel. Among these various challenges, there is one so great which even the most persevering missionary finds extremely difficult to overcome: the organized and systemic persecution of the church by the state and all levels of society. Christians in such places suffer on a variety of practical levels. Many are falsely charged, imprisoned, and/or martyred. Many lose their jobs or cannot find employment due to persecution and/or religious blacklisting. Families of those charged, imprisoned or martyred often lose their sole family breadwinner, resulting in a Christian...

How to help persecuted Christians

You can help address the needs of those suffering from Christian persecution in three practical ways: 1. Awareness  The first step that individuals and churches should take is to develop awareness of the plight of the world-wide persecuted church. Per your invitation, our CPC Department can send you any of the following resources, free of charge:  literature about Christian persecution regular news updates (hard copy) on ministries which are serving persecuted believers in their own nations e-mail prayer bulletins which alert you to specific world-wide needs requiring urgent prayer a personal visit by an ANM staff missionary to your church, home group, or school to talk about...

Thoughts from a Youth Pastor

A few weeks ago we told you of a visiting youth group from Bay Ridge Christian Church. The team was such a blessing to the ANM Home Office. They helped prepare our building for construction. Below are some thoughts from Jeremy: "I joined the staff of Bay Ridge Christian Church in Annapolis, Maryland, as youth pastor in 2007. Previously, I had worked closely with several missions agencies and organizations. At the time I was hired, our church had been supporting Advancing Native Missions for several years. I, however, had not had any exposure to ANM. So when I had the opportunity to lead a week-long missions trip from my church to ANM’s headquarters in 2010, I took the task with eager curiosity....

Through the Flood

The flood season brought disaster to a small part of India. Due to the weather conditions, a terrible disease spread throughout the land. Eight people died of this sickness. But God often uses bad circumstances to create good endings. That is what He did in the Mogadara Guda village. A small church of 34 members meet in the Mogadara Guda village. These members are faithful to share the love of Jesus with surrounding villages. The flood provided opportunity to do just that. This small congregation began to help the sick people from the other villages. When non-believers tried to help the sick people, they got sick, proving that God kept this church family well so they could...

What You Could Do With $8

Do you know what you could do with $8? Listed below are things that we spend $8 on, sometimes on a regular or even daily basis: See a movie at the theater Get 2 specialty coffee drinks from your local coffee shop Buy 8 double cheeseburgers at most fast food restaurants Download an album Buy 2 pair of flip-flops Download applications on your phone Go miniature golfing Get a pizza Most of these items are luxuries that God has blessed us with. They are all great and can be useful to nourish us, fellowship with friends, protect our feet, etc. All can be used for our good, but oftentimes we take these luxuries for granted, or worse yet, treat them as necessities because they are at our...

Roofing Filipino Churches

In our American churches, we don't ever think about inclement weather interrupting our services or causing us physical discomfort. However, many of our brothers and sisters around the world face the elements literally "without a roof over their heads." But you can help provide for Filipino believers as they gather to worship. For only eight dollars, you can purchase a 3 foot by 8 foot piece of roofing material. Generally it only takes twenty pieces to cover a whole church building, so for only $160 dollars you could supply an entire roof for a Filipino church family. Please pray for these people as they continue to gather together in worship despite the elements....

Salvation Through Education

Thawai and Veneko Chaisuk run a ministry called Maekong Sub-Region. It is located in Thoen, Thailand, where they are able to reach people involved in the drug trade. Many Thai people are spiritually hungry for the Gospel. Thawai and Veneko have answered God's call and chosen to minister to these needy people. In the midst of all the church planting and evangelism they are doing, the Chaisuks have a dream of building a Christian school. They realize that the opportunities to receive a good education in their area are few, so this school is their attempt to remedy that, as well as lead many children to the Lord. They have already purchased two and one-half acres of land, but are waiting...

Student Missions 103: Hosting a Missionary

A way for students to learn about native missions is to have a real live native missionary come to your church, youth group, club or school. This is a great way for students to learn about the country the missionary is from and the ministry they have in their own country. Students have the opportunity to ask questions about the things they have wondered about different parts of the world. It makes missions real to students. We have about 40 of our missionary leaders visit the US to share about their ministry....
