Woman Delivered From Curse

A testimony from Maharashtra Village Ministries One of our many testimonies comes from Praful N. Swanker:   “My home was in turmoil. Our neighbors had a disagreement with my mother and cast an evil spirit on her. Each day her health deteriorated a little more. Priests and doctors offered no relief. An uncle suggested that we take her to the local missionary because he had heard that the name of Jesus was powerful. Desperate for deliverance from the clutches of this evil, the whole family began to attend the church fellowship run by Maharashtra Village Ministries' missionary Suresh Mohure. Through their compassion and prayer, mother was totally delivered and healed! As a result,...

God is alive in Mumbai

We will start by proclaiming that God is alive and active here Mumbai! We have been witnesses to His mighty hand at work through Bombay Teen Challenge and their many vital outreaches. Our team has spent three amazing days here and in that short time, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of God’s holy spirit in and through each of us. It hasn’t taken long for God to unify and strengthen our team as one heart, one mind, and with one purpose. And that purpose is to bring God glory. God is leading and teaching us as a group to simply love Him and love others. Here’s just a glimpse of what God is doing in Mumbai given through they eyes of eight extremely grateful hearts....

First thoughts from India

As you can imagine, our team in India has been overwhelmed with the sights and sounds of India. Please enjoy the post below from one of our team members... We started the day with a breakfast of.... well, I'm not sure what it was but it was delicious!  After team devotions, we headed out to see some of the things BTC is doing here in the city.  We started at the medical clinic.  There is a doctor and a dentist there who work free of charge helping the people who other medical professionals turn away.  Did I mention that they share the exam room?  Did I mention it was about 8'x10'??  The "reception area" is the porch, which is just a concrete stoop about 3'x8'. ...

What to expect

Each team member who goes on a mission trip always wonders, "What should I expect?" Read the thoughts of a team member who went on an ANM trip to India. I'm really not sure what to expect in India. Indian food, trash, children, heat, color, songs, lizards, broken people, broken hearts, bouncy balls, stares, skin, tears, love, humility, God, compassion, faith, learning, teaching, listening, hearing, aching, confusion, etc. I expect all this but to the degree of which it will all affect me is what I don't believe I can expect/comprehend. I also expect this trip to be a beautiful testimony to the Lord. It already is for me. Watching what He has done so far with getting me there even when I thought...

A team members thoughts...before the trip

Our first ANM team is in India. Their goal? To serve and minister alongside the ministry of Bombay Teen Challenge. Below is a note from one of the team members who is a college student. She wrote this before she left on her trip. Please be praying for this young lady as she will be with our ANM staff member, in India for a total of five weeks. I am excited, I am nervous, I am still in the stage where it hasn't occurred to me that I'm going to India tomorrow.  I feel like when you're going on a big trip that you have been preparing for over a period of months, reality doesn't check in until you're on an airplane.  I am expecting big things for this trip.  How can I not...

Testimony of A Native Missionary

Dear friends, Greetings in Jesus name who said, “Let us go to the other side.” On October 1st, in the year, 1971, it pleased the Lord to save me while I was in the Indian Army, up in Kashmir. I was delivered from my sinful nature and I received heavenly peace that this world could not give. But soon my heart became restless at the thought that everyone around me was going to eternal hell. My heart cried for souls, and in the process, it became restless. My restless heart always reminded me of ‘others’, ‘others’, and 'others.’  So I witnessed to my fellow soldiers, officers who were coming to me every day to get their daily quota of ration...

Send Them!

YOU CAN BE A BLESSING TODAY...SEND THEM! This summer, Advancing Native Missions is sending two teams of willing brothers and sisters starting June 28th, to minister alongside one of our South Asia native ministries, Bombay Teen Challenge. This ministry is working hard to Stop Sexual Slavery! (see video below) Many of the team members have never been overseas, some are college students, but all feel called to minister among those who have been freed from a life of bondage. Along with leaving a trail of God's love wherever they go, one purpose of these teams will be to work with the BTC Education Coordinator to help the ladies, boys, and children with their conversational English....

Prayer Requests from India

Dear prayer friends,   Greeting to you in the name of Jesus Christ!   Please pray for the R. K. Grower family.  R. K. Grower is a highly influential man in Rohini. The story of his family is a bit long.  [But it is worth reading.]   Two year back Mrs. Grower attended a revival meeting in Delhi.  Somehow she came to know about the meeting and over the next few days she brought some other friends also.  During the revival meeting she had contact with my wife Pushpa, and exchanged their contact details.  After one year she called me that her husband is sick.  She requested us to pray.   Mrs. Grower believes in the lord but her...

Look What God is Doing in India

Many of our international partners have large, diverse ministries.  In their efforts to reach the unreached these ministries are using eveery means possible to proclaim the Gospel to those who have not heard.  Consider the following ministry report from one of these ministries:  New Life Ministries of India.   Greetings from New Life Ministries in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!   We praise God and thank you for another fruitful year. His grace indeed has been sufficient and we’re grateful that our Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.   Trivandrum Bible College We hit another milestone! The Devil Is Frightened

Greetings from New Delhi in Jesus’ name, who said, “You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in my name He may give to you,” John 15:16.   2010 was not a good year for us.  The finances were low.  The persecution was bad.  The missionaries were in fear.  And the converts were attacked, and thus frightened.  To be honest, the number of baptisms was less than half of what we targeted.   But I have good news…   >> We have 2300+ missionaries and 5400+ churches, with 1.5 million to 2 million believers. >>...

Miracles... And A Robbery

The triumphs and sufferings of a native missionary in India: Dear ANM friends. Greetings to you in the mighty  our savior Jesus name! We had good time of Church service this morning.  We rejoice in the Lord that a new family was added in the family of God.  During the service Demons we cast out in the name of Jesus Christ, many people we set free. While coming back Joy and I were singing praise song Joy was standing in the front of the scooter and Pushpa was sitting in the back.  As we were crossing jungle two young boys came in the motorbike from behind snatched the purse from the Pushpa’s hand in the running scooter.  I did try to follow them but...

Changing the Lives of Children

A ministry in India runs Sunday School programs for children from non-Christian backgrounds. Throughout five different locations, a total of 170 children are being reached with the Gospel message. Since these Sunday Schools have begun, the teachers and volunteers have noticed subtle changes in the attendees. Their interest to learn has increased. Some of the children who had once been poor students in school were now at the top of their class. Behavioral issues are issues no longer. They are volunteering to help around the church.   Through this beautiful ministry, children who once had nothing are provided with basic things like uniforms, note books, school bags, umbrellas, and raincoats....

Where the Name of Jesus is Not Known

Fulfilling the Great Commission by reaching the unreached is the vision God has given to Soul Winners India. For this to become a reality, they need to train and send out many more pioneer missionaries to bring God's love to all the unreached people groups of South Asia.   Every year they train 60-100 students in their Bible colleges. The goal is that each student would gain the vision to take the Good News to the unreached, receive on-the-job training through ongoing outreach ministry along with quality instruction in the Word of God, and be fully prepared for the hardship and persecution that comes with a life of faith in Jesus.   The...

Praises and Prayers from India

It has been a couple years since the attacks on the believers in India. One of ANM’s ministry partners joyfully reports that seven families who participated in the persecution have come to know the Lord since then. But that isn’t all that is happening in this area. Hundreds of Indian people are giving their hearts to Jesus through at the camps that are being held in their villages. The ministry has been working on additional living space for the boys in their care for quite some time now. This project was put on hold after the attacks in 2008, but has finally restarted in recent months. God has replaced some materials that were stolen and allowed the work to begin. Though they are...

Report from Peniel Gospel Team

The following is a report from Mammen Joseph of the Peniel Gospel Team in India:   By His grace the ministry is going well by adding new souls and new mission fields. God was so faithful to me so that He has kept us under His mighty arms during the past whole years. Even though there were so many painful situations and hindrances in the ministry, as we see in the book of Acts, His grace was sufficient for me. God has helped me to firmly believe in these words and He has helped me to face all the problems by His spirit and He has given me victory above all the problems.    We have a lot of needs in the ministry. The most important problem is that many times, we failed to...

Awakened by God

A miracle recently occurred in India. A seventeen year old girl fell unconcious before a Sunday worship service. The church members immediately started to pray for the young woman. After some time, she awoke for long enough to go to the bathroom, but soon fell unconscious again. This time, she was taken to the hospital where the doctors tried to revive her. But the doctors couldn't figure out what was causing the problem.  The unconscious woman was taken back to the church where a few believers congregated and began to cry out to the Lord to heal her. Miraculously, the young woman woke up feeling normal, ate some food, and is now walking. There was much celebrating among her family and...

Need in India

Roofing materials are needed for seven local churches built by believers in Orissa, India.  Materials are also needed to repair the homes of the victims of religious persecution. There are about 100 people still waiting for roof repairs. These people have been living in tents with other relatives for the last two years. They would like to have homes again. Each house would need an average of 16 sheets to cover the roof which they have built. This would cost approximately 8000 Rupees ($200). Funds are needed to complete an addition on a boys home that accommodates 72 boys as they study at a nearby school. The current space is not big enough for all these children so the ministry is hoping...

Good News From India

Dear ANM Family, Loving greetings to you India. Thank you for your prayer and contribution which has enabled us to bless many in the name of Jesus, so that their lives will be meaningful and fruitful for the Lord and for India. The church in Orissa is growing inspite of so many hurdles. The believers are more strong than before though their rehabilitation is not completed.  We are praying for God's blessing on them in 2011. Our churches are celebrating Christmas with  joy. The believers in this cold season are full of happiness to remember God's love through His son Jesus Christ.  Many of the refugees are still living in tents, for they have not completed their houses. Beauty from Ashes

God's Kingdom shall prevail in spite of much opposition. This is certainly true in Orissa, India. Though 40 people became martyrs, 6,000 houses were destroyed, and 300 churches were burned to the ground, God's glory shines from these ashes. His love has been demonstrated by the believers who have come from far and wide to support their suffering brethren. The attempt to quelch the flame of God's love has spread the Gospel into new villages and towns. In the midst of the persecution and suffering, God's people rejoice. This trial has merged all denominations into one unified family. Their hearts flow with forgiveness toward their persecutors, and they have witnessed many of these persecutors...

Revival in India

“I want to go where the Gospel has not yet been spread,” an Indian missionary confided in us.   With a small team including a young man from Holland and two friends from Curacao, this Indian man set out to host a revival meeting in the mountains of India. Though the bumpy, twenty hour drive brought them to their destination at four in the morning, the villagers were very welcoming.   90% of the people who attended these meetings were Hindus. God moved mightily through worship and prayer. Many people were set free from evil spirits which had possessed them. The people are already asking when another revival will be hosted in their village.   Please continue...

Hope for Orphans

In an Indian village, a three-year-old boy is crying. He is naked and orphaned and crying for the bread he never received for his labor… K.G. Easo hears the child’s cries and provides a solution. The child is adopted by a local pastor and will never go hungry again.   A small boy who has already lost his mother is left at an orphanage doorstep by his sickly father. As the father places a small amount of rice in his son’s hands, he tearfully remarks, “Son, I have nothing more to give you.” Here at Soul Winners India, he has been given hope.   In a tribal village, a mother sobs, “Oh my son! For my food I sold you; I sold you for 20 rupees. I did...

From Hundreds to Thousands

On November 5-7, a conference was held for 225 key lay leaders in India. It was an intense time of training involving much discussion that revolved around the theme “Proclaim the Gospel.” During this time, it was decided that each leader represented would begin two fellowship groups of approximately fifteen people each. If all goes according to plan, 450 fellowships involving a total of 6750 people will be formed by Christmas. Praise God!   Please pray for these 225 leaders who are beginning this endeavor. Pray that God would lead them to invite the right people and that there would be a positive response to these groups. You never know if this practice will...

A Native Missionary Looks At Diwali

Diwali is the "festival of lights" that originated with Hinduism but is now celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs.  The festival honors several religious events.  It also pays homage to Lakshmi, the consort of the Hindu God Vishnu. This year, 2010, Diwali begins on Friday, November 5.  The festival lasts for five days, and is a national holiday in India. Diwali is a good time to remember that as Christians we honor the true Light of the World--Jesus Christ.  He is the Light that has come to every man, bringing the shining truth of the Gospel and liberating brillance of the message of His sacrificial life and death.  ...

Meet A Missionary

Put a face to the concept!  Native missions is not just an idea.  It is real men and women who are surrendering their lives for the sake of the Gospel.  It is these frontline warriors of the faith that ANM honors and advocates for.  They are our heroes. One of these heroes of the church is Niranjan Bardhan of India.  In this video you will meet Niranjan himself.  Then you will see more faces, the faces of the children of the world waiting to hear the Gospel and grow in Jesus.  As you watch, listen to the words to the song "When We Pray" written by one of ANM's staff members, Mindy Spurrier.  This song was written for the children's mission curriculum The...

Through the Flood

The flood season brought disaster to a small part of India. Due to the weather conditions, a terrible disease spread throughout the land. Eight people died of this sickness. But God often uses bad circumstances to create good endings. That is what He did in the Mogadara Guda village. A small church of 34 members meet in the Mogadara Guda village. These members are faithful to share the love of Jesus with surrounding villages. The flood provided opportunity to do just that. This small congregation began to help the sick people from the other villages. When non-believers tried to help the sick people, they got sick, proving that God kept this church family well so they could...

OBI can change a life!

Sukarna was a government official in this north Indian state.  His life was without purpose; his family was in shambles.  At the invitation of his brother-in-law he attended an OBI in Gangtok in 2005.  At that conference his life was completely changed as he dedicated his life to God.  We met him again in the OBI in Siliguri in 2008.  This time he came as a spiritual leader with a stable family and is involved in the work of sharing the Good News in north India.  He thanked God for OBI!...

Blankets for the cold, brings warmth to the heart!

A simple blanket!  Many people in the world have one, most people have extras in closets, just in case.  Imagine living in an area of the world where temperatures can become extremely cold and not owning one blanket.  This ministry based in the Northwestern part of India shares the love of Christ in many ways.  One wonderful way is giving a blanket to those in need.  The photo attached shows the joy of members of a leper colony (radiant smiles and laughter).  Phyically they suffer, but this ministry is taking the time to show them love.  If purchasing a blanket is something you would like to do, see project # 241 for more information. ...

Shoesboxes are not just for Shoes

Purchase a new pair of shoes and throw away the box - that's how I do it!  Yet, in Kashmir, India, shoesboxes are being recycled to bless many children.  You ask how?  The Ministry of KEF fills empty shoeboxes with simple gifts bringing joy to the hearts of children.  This is an exciting, effective project that I am certain you will want to be a part of.  Read more about this on project # 242....

Health Disaster in India

For the last one month there have been very heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh, especially in Srikakulam.  All the rivers are flowing with heavy rain water.  Today the media reported that 68 people have died in a week day's time in Srikakulam revenue district due to diarrhea.  It is noted that most of these deaths reported from our tribal belt.  It is due to a lack of sanitation and the lack of availability of medical assistance that these deaths are happening.   As we are praying for our people we felt compelled to respond to the medical need, as well as to bring awareness of the situation.  We are trying to give first aid medical help to unreached people. ...

Impacting Children

India Gospel Outreach and Social Action (IGOSA) finds that the most effective way to minister is to target children. Among their many other ministries, IGOSA has four child development centers with approximately 700 children among them. While some of these children are orphans, the majority of them come from homes with parents who do not have the financial capability of sending them to school. By the grace of God, these children are doing very well academically. Along with their studies, these children are  taught Biblical lessons and Christian principles. They also learn cultural dances that have been put to Christian music. Through these dances and perhaps a skit they memorize...

God's Restoring Story of a Student in India

Two summers ago (2008) Mindy & I (Trisha) had the opportunity to travel in the US with eight ladies from one of the ministries ANM serves. We visited churches and government officials to share the ladies' testimonies of restoration. The following is one of the lady's testimony. She is currently attending a university in India. D's mother had been forced to work in the Red Light District from a young age. She had "D" while working and raised her within the district. "D" does not know who her earthly father is. She grew up moving around and living with lots of different people because of her mother's line of work. She understood what her mom did and says she knew...

Hearing God Speak Your Language

Many people in India have never heard the Word of God in their native language.  In a country where illiteracy is an issue, printing the Bible into the native tongues is not always the best method. That is why Advancing Native Missions is sending audio Bibles to the spiritually hungry Christians of India. These Bibles are available in nine different commonly spoken languages in India. They run on solar-powered rechargeable batteries that can last up to fifteen hours. Please pray for these people that are hearing the Bible in their own language for the first time. Pray that the people of India would be drawn closer to the Lord through...

Highlights and What is to Come

When I look back at what God did through Student Missions this year I am humbled and in awe. To think that student missions did not exist at ANM 3 years ago and to see all that God has done is incredible. I am so blessed to be a part of what God is doing around the world and to be able to get students involved. The following are some of the highlights from this past year: We had the opportunity to visit 3 college campuses and a college club to get students excited about native missions Had a university take on projects to support the work God is doing through native missionaries in 20 countries There have been about 10 college students involved in projects to advance the work that ANM is...

Why This Bag is Special

The tote bag in which The 10/40 Expedition is packaged was made by women in India. Because of a native missionary, these ladies heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and were saved from a life of slavery. Your support in purchasing this curriculum aids in their new life of freedom. There are over 60,000 sex workers in the city of Mumbai, India. Every day, these young women are forced to do horrible things in order to pay off a debt they owe to the brothel owners who bought them. Many times these debts are far too high to ever be repaid, and those who do achieve in purchasing their freedom often have no place to go. Having been rejected by their families, these women turn back to the only other thing...

Selva helps oversee the other teachers in the school and also teaches several subjects, including third standard (third grade) English class. Selva is lively and kind, always seeking out ways to help the children at the school. Music for the Nations

Frontier Care Ministries (FCM) in West Bengal, India preaches the Gospel to many strong believing Hindus. Though it is perilous to share the good news of Jesus, these missionaries are determined to reach these lost people. Many new believers undergo resentment and rejection from their communities. This reason alone keeps many Bengali people from embracing Christianity. But there are those who choose to become outcasts among their family and friends rather than deny their need for a Savior. FCM consists not only of pastors and workers, but of prayer warriors. These faithful servants spend much time on their knees praying that the hearts of the Bengali people will be opened and interceeding...

Saving the World on Bicycles

Have you ever stopped to observe how much time we Christians pause on the side of the road to share the Gospel with a nonbeliever? Have you shared the love of Christ with someone at school or a friend that you know is not a believer? Perhaps you are thinking, "I don't want them to think I'm preaching at them," or, "What if they don't want to be my friend anymore?" Kulo and his wife, Faith, have a ministry in India called Maharashtra Village Ministries (MVM). They devote their time and energy to witnessing to the Indian people. In the year 2008, MVM reached five districts in Maharashtra and shared the Gospel in ninety-nine villages. Six hundred and sixty-three people were open to the Word...

Pray for the Teachers of Bombay Teen Challenge

Bombay Teen Challenge is a ministry committed to restoring the lives of women, men, and children in the Red Light District of Mumbai, India. When I spent time with those who were healing, the transformational power of Jesus was evident. Education is one of the many components of this ministry. There are many teachers who work with children and adults everyday in subjects including English, math, science, and so forth. Please join us in praying for these teachers.  Pray for the educational coordinator Annie who makes decisions for the educational needs of the entire ministry. Pray for the teachers of the women who are studying and healing at the same time. Pray...

Trinity School in India: Ministering to the Community

At Rehoboth Home for Children in Southern India, there is a Christian school ministering to the community: Trinity Nursery and Primary School. Trinity welcomes children from the surrounding community and has a diverse population, with many Hindu, Christian, and Muslim children along with those from poor and needy families. Malliga, the ministry leader, has a vision for the school. Her dream is for the school to: Be fully Christian Serve the poor and needy Provide the best education possible What is meant by "fully Christian" is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus and help children grow in their knowledge and love for Jesus.  Serving the poor and the...

Pray for the Staff of Bombay Teen Challenge

Please take time to pray for the staff of Bombay Teen Challenge who minister to prostitutes and their children in Mumbai’s Red Light District. They are committed to prayer and devote themselves to it for five hours at a time, three days a week. They provide the hope of Jesus a difficult place, where it is easy to become discouraged. They work tirelessly building relationships with women and caring for their medical and spiritual needs. The following are prayer requests from the staff of the health clinic. Often times, people are open to the gospel and then suddenly their hearts are closed. This is an ongoing spiritual battle that discourages the staff. Pray for hearts to be open to...

A School's Potential to Minister to the Community

When I spent time at Rehoboth Home for Children in southern India, I focused on working with the teachers in Trinity Nursery and Primary School. Before making the trip, I had thought that if we can focus efforts to increase the quality of the school, the school would draw more children from the community. In turn, the funds that the school received from tuition could be a potential way of helping the home for children become more self-sustaining. What I didn't fully realize was the school's potential to be an important component of sharing the love of Jesus with others in the community. Here is one story of how Trinity School ministers to the community. Meet Jagen....

India 2009 Trip Report: Bombay Teen Challenge

While we were in India, we visited Bombay Teen Challenge (BTC), a ministry focused on breaking the cycle of human trafficking in Mumbai’s Red Light District. When talking with prostitutes and brothel owners, the staff emphasizes two main points: 1.    Jesus loves you Women can believe this because the ministry is right there in the heart of the Red Light District offering free medical and dental care along with prayer and worship services. The BTC staff members are building relationships with the women. 2.    Jesus has a plan for your life This is more difficult for women to believe. Everything that they had has been ripped from them and many are dying...

Trisha's Insights on India

First off I am so thankful that the Lord allows me to do what I truly enjoy. I feel so blessed that He has allowed me to travel and work with young people. I am humbled often that He chose me to be able to work with people who are making a difference for the Lord around the world. It was truly a blessing to be a part of the team to visit Bombay Teen Challenge. This was my first visit to India and will not be my last. As some of you may know I have visited some international hospitals on past mission trips. So, I make my parents and others very nervous when I travel overseas. I truly believe the times I was sick in the past was because I was not traveling the path God wanted for me....

Prayer Requests for Trip to India

Hello, praying friends! We are here in India helping with the school at Rehoboth. We are very excited but need your prayers. Here are some requests. Pray for the teachers of the school. They have very few resources and are very happy about receiving training. Please pray for them to remain open to instruction. Pray for me that I know how to help the teachers take the next step forward in their instruction. Please pray for a Hindu family that has a child with autism. There is a big struggle and the child's mother is suicidal. Children with disabilities appear to be viewed as a curse to some families in India. Pray for the ministry leader that she will be able to have the opportunity...

We are Here at Rehoboth Home for Children

Everyone has welcomed us so warmly at Rehoboth Home for Children. We are fed so well (and so much)! Indian hospitality is amazing. I have had the opportunity to interact with both the children and the teachers. The children are precious. Each time I visit them, they surround me with love and ask about things like my favorite color and birthday. The teachers are very kind and desire to grow in their teaching. They are doing amazingly well given the limited resources (such as no children's books in any classrooms). I will be working with these dear teachers next week daily to help them to take the next step in their literacy instruction. Please pray that the Lord will guide us in this endeavor....

More on Travels to India

Good Morning from India! We now have some more energy after getting a little bit of sleep. When we boarded the plane for Atlanta there was a couple issues so we sat for an hour before taking off. The flight went pretty smoothly. We all enjoyed watching the different countries we flew over. We waved at Oliga's family in Moldova. Then we got to Mumbai and there was a bad rain storm. So we got to circle Mumbai for about 45 minutes. So, all in all we were in the plane for 17 hours. Needless to say we were ready to be off the plane. We made it through customs and got our luggage with no problems. Then we found our friends and traveled to our hotel. When we arrived at the hotel they had a leak so...

A Story of Compassion from Rehoboth

Here is a story from someone who recently visited Rehoboth Home: I would like to tell you about one little family that illustrates the need and compassion found at Rehoboth. One day while at Rehoboth, a slight woman named Shanti came to speak to Malliga, the ministry leader. She appeared to be about 30 years old, was wearing a blue sari and had a countenance that could not hide her deep sadness. Later Malliga explained to us that Shanti was afflicted with AIDS from her deceased husband and was growing weaker. She had already visited three times, begging to have her children accepted into the safety of Rehoboth before she died. Malliga had been deferring the decision as it was an awkward time...

Learn About Rehoboth Home for Children

Below is an excerpt from a newsletter about Rehoboth Home for Children: “To understand India, you must imagine yourself walking down dusty streets, past the sights of fruit stands, jasmine flowers, multi-colored fabrics, and Hindu shrines; past the homeless, the poor, and their small homes made of coconut leaves; and through the sounds of bustling traffic and busy marketplaces. However, in one southern city, there is an oasis where visitors are greeted by children’s laughter and the sounds of them at play. Welcome to the Rehoboth Home for Children. The home is made up of two buildings (one for boys and one for girls) separated by a grassy field. A vivacious Indian woman...
