Claudius Deah was born into a godly Liberian family. As a young man he received a call from the Lord to preach the Gospel, so he went to Bible school to prepare himself. There he met and married his wife Ruth, who shared his burden for the countries of West Africa. In 1992 they began planting churches in Liberia.
During the first two years of the civil war that ravaged Liberia in the early 1990’s, they planted ten churches. In 1994 they fled to Guinea, crossing the border with 15,000 others. Determined not to be refugees but missionaries, the Deah’s continued to plant new churches. Today eight more have been planted in Guinea. Ten full-time and six part-time missionaries work with their ministry, called Mission Bethel Ministries (MBM), and 32 students attend their Bible school. MBM also helps new Christians to become self-supporting. Wherever they go, the Deah’s continue to be used mightily by the Lord for the extension of His kingdom in West Africa.
