Motivated by a burden for lost souls together with a compassion for needy children, Alex and Eunice Malanday started Church Builders Ministry in 1993. It is located in Guimaras, a small island in Central Philippines accessible only by boat. To carry out their vision of planting churches on their island, Alex and Eunice go to different areas and establish a free village Christian kindergarten. Many times these kindergarten schools begin under mango trees. The children then go home and tell their parents what they learn about Jesus. By God’s grace, many parents eventually choose to receive Christ as Savior, and Alex and Eunice start Bible studies in a local home, which eventually gives birth to a church. Later a building may be constructed that is used as a school during the week and as a church on Sundays. Since its inception, CBM has established at least five schools and four churches.
